Greenbrier Fire Department Engine Involved in Rollover

GREENBRIER, Ark. — A Greenbrier Fire Department engine was involved in a single-vehicle rollover over the weekend while returning from a fire response. No injuries have been reported.

According to Greenbrier Fire Chief Josh Woods, Engine 1, a 1995 Pierce was returning from a fire response when it left the roadway on East Main Street and rolled over, Saturday September 19, 2026. The incident occurred near the intersection of Tyler Street and Highway 225 East, across from Faith Baptist Church, at approximately 1:20 p.m.

“We are extremely thankful that our firefighter is safe,” said Chief Woods. “Fire apparatus can be replaced, but the lives of the men and women who serve our community cannot.”

Engine 1 sustained extensive damage and is expected to be considered a total loss. The Greenbrier Fire Department has placed a reserve engine into service to help maintain emergency response coverage while the City evaluates its options for replacing the damaged apparatus.

The cause of the wreck remains under review. No additional details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident are available at this time. 

The City of Greenbrier appreciates the emergency personnel and community members who responded to the scene, as well as the many residents who have expressed concern and support for the firefighter and the department.
